I would probably make it use-activated rather than constant. It would take a lot of tweaking, I think. I think you might be able to put this on an item. In this case, this item would make most any low-level undead encounter a cake-walk. I believe the reason for this is that it can be quite powerful. The thing is, 'auto-damage', where the target receives no save and there is no roll to hit - like that done by magic missile - is quite rare in the game. True that a lich would not hurt too much from it, but then liches are substantially more powerful than most other undead creatures. Doing 1d6 no-save damage to all undead within 30 ft is actually quite a powerful ability I think, especially against large numbers of less powerful undead. Moreover, the creature receives no save against this damage.Ĭlearly, the Helm of Brilliance ability is substantially more powerful than the cantrip Disrupt Undead. It does this without requiring an attack roll that is, it hits automatically. In contrast, the Helm of Brilliance ability has a range of 30 and affects all creatures within range. It does not require any save (as per most ray attacks), and spell resistance applies. The cantrip Disrupt Undead requires a ray attack to hit it also only targets a single creature. TL DR: putting the bluish 30' undead-scrubbing light from a 'Helm of Brilliance' on its own - into nearly anything It isn't too overpowered either, around higher level undead it is irritating / annoying at best - and easily avoided - you are not exactly going to kill a lich with it.īring me your thoughts, good lads & ladies! Paladins & holy priests would just love it, just the thing that matches a true image of undead slayer. or would a wise DM make his life much more difficult? Could it be as simple as an 'add on' feature such as 'Flame burst' (or what have you) - require +1 weapon / armour and charge it as an additional '+1 power' like so many add-on abilities for swords & armour? It is a fun thing to put in nearly anything and it really adds character. Is this the cost of a 'use at will' cantrip. What does this stand-alone power cost? A player of mine would like to have JUST this effect, nothing else. it is the one near the bottom for 125000 gold / has no separate link, sorry. Enchanting this 'solo' could be easy (a DM could require the 'enchant misc. /r/3d6 - For character creation, advice and sharing (system agnostic)Ī 'Helm of Brilliance' has an interesting feature power that radiates a 30' light / 1-6 damage to undead./r/Battlemaps - For your VTT battlemap requirements./r/Tabletop - For your general tabletop gaming shenanigans./r/lfg - Looking For Group, find other players, etc./r/RPG - For general, non-Pathfinder related RPG discussion./r/Starfinder_rpg - For dedicated discussion of Paizo's Science Fantasy system and setting./r/Pathfinder_Kingmaker - To discuss the Owlcat-made computer RPGs./r/Pathfinder2e - For dedicated Second Edition discussion./r/Pathfinder - For Pathfinder Society Organization/Discussion.Other subreddits you might be interested in:
